END. x adidas Originals Handball Spezial “Bauhaus” (2023)
END. links up with adidas on a bright ‘n’ bold trio of footwear that taps into the 20th century movement of Bauhaus and its instantly recognisable aesthetic, that has influenced way beyond then.
Capturing its modernist vision through the lens of sporting footwear, the duo revisits the classic Bermuda, mirroring the iconic German art school’s penchant for bold typography, geometric shapes and of course - the distinct colour palette.
Washed in a pastel blue suede, the leather Three Stripes and heel take on Bauhaus’ primary colours and layered forms, while further nods to the movement sit pride of place at the woven tongue patch.
To finish END. and the sportswear powerhouse take over the colour pop heels - with metallic gold foiled branding.
Marcel Breuer The Wassily Chair, Model B3 (1927 – 1928)
The fabric used was made from Eisengarn ('iron yarn'), a strong, shiny, waxed-cotton thread. It had been invented in the 19th century, but Margaretha Reichardt (1907–1984), a student at the Bauhaus weaving workshop, experimented and improved the quality of the thread and developed cloth and strapping material for use on Breuer's tubular-steel chairs.
